Joakim is being honored this Thursday for the Special Achievement Award for Professional Athletics from the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation. Brett Vena from the Sports Commission recently spoke about Joakim’s selection:
“A group of media professionals got together to select this award recipient and nobody came close to Joakim and his achivievements for this past year. We are just as honored as Joakim for him to join us this year! Soria is exactly what this award represents: character, class, and excellence. We are truly excited to present him this award.”
The event will take place on July 16 at the Midland Theatre in downtown Kansas City. Joakim will be present to accept his award. Other award recipients include NFL Hall-of-Famer, and former Chiefs quarterback Len Dawson. Actor/Comedian Jimmie Walker will be the entertainment host.
